SAMFORD MAIN STREET

With Moreton Regional Council, Greenedge Design and whilst at Hatch RobertsDay, Catherine led the Samford Village Main Street concept design and streetscape revitalisation project.

As part of this we undertook extensive engagement and mapping of key user groups in-person and through facebook. This led to the formation of a group page where the community could gather and share their ideas (critical during Covid) reimagining their Main Street.

The street was redesigned taking cues from what currently works, including the heritage materials still evident within Samford, the large native trees, planting of bright and colourful flowering shrubs and an expansion of the verge to include areas for a la carte dining, rest and relaxation.

 Key Strategies:

CYCLING: New cycling signage for motorist awarness; additional cycle infrastructre and parking (both on-ground and verticle)

WAYFINDING: Large wayfinding recommended for local park to link to surrounding attractors and regional destinations •

ARTS: Gateway and discovery artworks reflecting local culture and history, and temporary or programmed artwork during local events

ACTIVATION: Focussed outdoor dining and events around businesses

COMMUNICATION: Successful digital Facebook consultation strategy that had 600 submissions
